Barely got up to 25000 words out of the Nanowrimo goal of 50000 today. It's day 16 out of 30 of November. I've been writing Flight of the Dove only on my daily commute so far. Perhaps it's time I start working on it on the weekends as well.
As for the actual story, I'm glad to say I kicked the action up a notch or two... all the same there are quite a few scenes I'd like to seriously prune. Part of the pitfalls of writing by the seat of my pants without editing, I suppose. I'm glad I got to air out some of my characters who'd otherwise not see the light of the day. It's always a guilty pleasure for me to place another of my characters into this universe, and it's tempting to squeeze in every last of them, but it wouldn't be appropriate for the setting, nor helpful to the actual plot. It's a bit of a challenge, really.

In between completing World's Craziest Hospital: Infinity Surgery and starting on Nanowrimo, I wrote up a somewhat Halloween-themed WCH story, intended for release on Halloween. It wasn't going in a direction I liked and I hadn't planned it out as much as I wanted to, so I'm tabling it until December. I decided against posting what I have so far last week or on Halloween, because it needs a lot of love and isn't currently in a terribly good state.
In the meantime, I'm embarking on NaNoWriMo through a story that I've looked forward to making- WCH: The Flight of the Dove. I'm going to try my best to hit Nanowrimo's 50k goal before I do anything more than some light editing. Feel free to drop some comments somewhere if you're reading it. |
